Writing a Positive Climate Future in the Pines: A Generative Workshop

How can a sense of place help us write and imagine a positive climate future? This generative workshop invites participants to explore the Pine Barrens, spend dedicated time writing, and collaborate with other writers.

Participants will connect outdoor observation with ecological experience, then consider how writing can foster intimacy with place and help readers appreciate their own home ecology. The workshop focuses on the Pine Barrens as a starting point for imagining a balanced, healthy climate future.

Kayla Harris leads the workshop in partnership with Pinelands Preservation Alliance. Harris is the Alliance's Membership Manager, holds a BA in English from the University of Delaware, is an MFA candidate in Creative Writing at LSU New Orleans, and has worked in nonprofit and for-profit sustainability roles across New Jersey.
