A free, mostly online training program on flooding, water pollution, local action, and effective community advocacy.
The Watershed Institute's Community Watershed Advocate Program is a self-paced course for people age 16 and older who want to advocate effectively on water-related environmental issues. The course covers flooding and water pollution, actions available to officials and residents, and ways advocates can support watershed protection.
Participants can complete online modules from September 30 through November 4. Live hybrid sessions are scheduled for October 7 and November 3 at 5:30 PM, and an optional reserve hike begins at 9 AM on October 10. The course is free, with a suggested $30 donation. Registration closes September 30.
Most coursework can be completed online. The Watershed Center is an accessible building and its Hickory Loop is a fully accessible boardwalk; confirm which route will be used for the optional hike.
